MANILA, Philippines -- A detained Army major has filed a slight physical injury complaint before the Quezon City Prosecutors Office against a Marine colonel for allegedly attacking him in Camp Aguinaldo early this month.
In a three page complaint, Maj. Jason Aquino lodged the case against Col. Ariel Querubin and his wife Mariflor over an incident on December 12 inside a detention area at the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The case was filed before the Quezon City prosecutors office for slight physical injuries after Aquino allegedly sustained abrasions on his elbow and forearm.
In his sworn statement attached to the complaint, Aquino, 40, said he accompanied his lawyer Frank Chavez to the gate of the Custodial and Detention Center at around 1:15 p.m. that day.
Upon returning to the gate at around 1:20 p.m., Aquino claimed that Querubin?s wife was already behind him and that she wanted to talk to him, but Aquino said he had other visitors to attend to.
The detained Army major also claimed that Mariflor called up her husband who, moments later, attacked Aquino as the latter was walking back to his cell. Aquino claimed that the Marine colonel and his wife pushed him against a wall.
?Bigla na lang akong sinugod at inumbag ni Col Querubin at Mrs Querubin kaya ako nagkasugat sa paa at kanang braso (Col. Querubin and Mrs. Querubin suddenly attacked me, inflicting wounds on my feet and right arm),? Aquino said in his statement, adding that he fled back to his cell and later reported the incident to authorities.
His lawyer, Trixie Angeles, also accompanied him to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center and to the Kamuning police station to have his statement taken by the police.
Attached to Aquino?s complaint were medico-legal slips from the QMMC, which indicated that Aquino sustained abrasions on his right elbow and forearm.
Querubin earlier admitted to shoving Aquino but said he did it to defend his wife from what he called Aquino?s verbal attacks against Querubin?s wife.
Both Aquino and Querubin are facing mutiny charges for their alleged participation in the February 2006 attempt to overthrow the Arroyo administration.
