MANILA, Philippines ? An hour-long fire gutted a village chief?s house and seven others Monday afternoon in Manila.
Nobody was hurt in the blaze.
Police Officer 2 Manuel Castro, an operative of the Manila Police District (MPD) Abad Santos Station 7 Tayuman detachment said that the fire broke out at around 3:16 pm, at 732 V. Serrano at the corner of S. Trinidad Street, in Gagalangin, Tondo.
The house, Castro revealed, is owned by Barangay (village) 158 Zone 14 chairman Raymundo Fernandez.
The blaze immediately spread to adjacent houses and destroyed seven other homes, reaching the 5th alarm, before it was placed under control by responding firefighters of the Manila Fire District at around 4:10 pm and subsequently put out nine minutes later.
MFD arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and have not given an estimated cost of damaged property.
