MANILA, Philippines—A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death by a group of men early Sunday in Manila.
Zaldy Scott, of 1734 Kahilum I in Pandacan, was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors at the Ospital ng Maynila from multiple stab wounds in the body.
Scott and his teenage friends, Maynard Mallari and Ricky Boy Avecilla, were walking home when they passed by his attackers, who were reportedly having a drinking spree at 2:30 a.m. along the President Quirino bridge in Paco, said Police Officer 3 Rommel Del Rosario of the Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section.
Del Rosario said that, for no apparent reason, the drunken men blocked the path of the teenagers and, pulling out knives, started stabbing Scott.
Although injured, the boy was able to run a few meters with his friends then keeled over upon reaching Quirino Avenue.
Mallari and Avecilla tried to save their wounded friend by bringing him to the nearest hospital but the effort proved futile.
The case investigator said that the victim could have been attacked by the drunken men for kicks.
Homicide investigators are conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of the killers.
