MANILA, Philippines—A commotion ensued in a voters' registration in Parañaque City Hall around 10 p.m. on Tuesday after an early cut-off was announced, a registrant told the Inquirer.
Aia de Leon, vocalist of band Imago, said there was still a long line outside the building when she arrived around 9:30 p.m. to avail of the extended registration.
De Leon was one of the registrants on Oct. 31 who were given an extension on Nov. 3.
"They said we will be given priority," De Leon said.
She said that on Tuesday night a cut-off was announced by 10 p.m. when the extended registration should be until midnight.
De Leon said that instead of honoring their forms, which served as proof that they were on line on Oct. 31, a new number system was implemented.
She said people shouted in anger after the cut-off was declared.
"Some left but some of us are still here because we want to exercise our right to vote," De Leon said in a call at 11:30 p.m.
