MANILA, Philippines -- Power distributor Manila Electric Co. said on Sunday it has fully restored power supply in all its 683 circuits, covering some 4.6 million registered customers, a day after typhoon Santi hit Metro Manila and Luzon.

"With the restoration of all of our affected circuits, we are now conducting mopping operations and attending to individual concerns of customers, which we hope to complete at the soonest possible time," said Meralco external communications manager Joe Zaldarriaga.

Felled trees, downed poles, damaged electrical equipment and other debris that hit Meralco facilities were the reasons behind the power outages, which affected some 1.6 million Meralco customers in Metro Manila and nearby provinces early Saturday morning.

Meralco senior assistant vice president Alex Evangelista reiterated that they had expected to "reach a state of normalcy by Sunday."

Meralco customers still without power as of Sunday can call the company's hotline 16211 or through mobile numbers 09175592824 and 09209292824.

"Please be assured that our personnel are on full complement, and are working round-the-clock to quickly restore power to your homes and businesses. Meralco personnel from areas least affected by typhoon Santi were dispatched to augment manpower complement in areas heavily affected by the typhoon," Zaldarriaga added.
