MANILA, Philippines?Despite constant reminder and public advisories from authorities, several people were still caught bringing illegal items inside cemeteries a day before All Saints? Day, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said that on Saturday, a total of 59 bladed weapons and a teargas were confiscated by authorities in various cemeteries across Metro Manila alone.

Most of these reported incidents occurred in Pasig City Cemetery, where 26 weapons were confiscated, he said.

Twenty-two bladed weapons were confiscated by authorities at the Pasig Catholic Cemetery, seven at the South Cemetery, three at San Juan Cemetery, while a kitchen knife was confiscated at the La Loma Cemetery, Espina said.

Despite these incidents, he said there have been no untoward incidents reported by authorities as of this time.

A total of 4,825 police assistance centers have been established in major locations across the country. These assistance centers have been set up in cemeteries, churches, highways, seaports, bus terminals, and even resorts.

Police again reminded the public to refrain from bringing bladed weapons, liquor, and gambling items inside the cemeteries.
