MANILA, Philippines— Four men abducted an 18-year old college student in Cotabato City Thursday noon for allegedly failing to marry a Muslim woman he impregnated, the city police chief said.
Senior Superintendent Willie Dangane said that police are now looking for Muariff Mtabalao, who was abducted by four men at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Jose Lim Sr. and Doroteo Streets in Poblacion 6.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was forced inside a tricycle by the suspects and were taken towards the Kalanganan area.
Follow-up operations led to the arrest of a certain Tata Alimudin, who was reportedly one of those who abducted the teenager.
Dangane said Alimudin later identified two of his cohorts as Fahad Alipulo and Aladin Mendo. The suspect also told police that the abduction was due to a “breach of Muslim agreement as the victim reportedly failed to marry a Muslim woman who is now pregnant.”
Authorities are now looking for the victim and the suspects.
