MANILA, Philippines -- The Makati City Prosecutor's Office has ordered the filing of criminal charges against a doctor for allegedly botching a facial procedure on a United States-based nurse.

In a recent resolution, second assistant city prosecutor Edgardo Hirang recommended that Doctor Jennifer Roslyn Sison-de Leon of the Belo Medical Group be indicted for reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries.

De Leon, whose case will be handled by the Makati Metropolitan Trial Court, allegedly failed to exercise caution while performing Thermage on Leila Palaganas.

The fiscal, however, junked the complaint against Dr. Victoria "Vicki" Belo, BMGI owner, for lack of merit.

The 50-year-old Palaganas earlier demanded P20 million from the cosmetic surgeons for the permanent scars on her face after undergoing the radio-frequency procedure in July 2008.
