MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office is looking to acquire five relay stations worth P15 million to better manage the different closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras across Metro Manila in a bid to monitor and prevent crime, its chief said.
At the same time, the NCRPO is also looking to acquire 50 more motorcycles for its policemen to increase police visibility, said Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales, NCRPO chief.
Rosales’ pronouncement came days after an explosion rocked the Office of the Ombudsman and an improvised bomb was recovered near the Department of Agriculture office, both in Quezon City.
Apart from better managing the different CCTV cameras, the five backhaul relay stations will also have the capacity to stream video feeds to the police’s Regional Tactical Operations and Intelligence Center (RTOIC), Rosales said.
The purchase of five backhaul relay stations will cost around P15 million. It will integrate all CCTV systems to the communication facilities of the RTOIC, Rosales said.
“This system will put the crime prevention and control program of the NCRPO in the cutting edge by giving the RTOIC more access to the CCTV cameras that monitor peace and order situation on the ground and in areas that are vulnerable to crime,” Rosales said.
The additional 50 motorcycles, meanwhile, will allow the NCRPO to form a company-size of motorcycle riding troops that will enhance police visibility and security operations in investment zones.
