MANILA, Philippines ? (UPDATE) Another school in Quezon City has suspended its classes for 10 days following confirmation that one of its students was infected with the Influenza A(H1N1) virus, a city official said Thursday.

The 10-day suspension at the Dr. Alejandro Roces High School started on Wednesday after it was confirmed that a senior student had A(H1N1), said Doctor Antonietta Inumerable, Quezon City health officer.

The student is undergoing treatment at an undisclosed hospital, Inumerable said, adding it was not immediately known how the student contracted the disease.

On Tuesday, the Lagro Elementary School suspended its classes after two of its students tested positive for A(H1N1).

Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College, and the University of the Philippines-Diliman, all in Quezon City, have also confirmed A(H1N1) cases among its students.

The city health department will continue its intensive information drive to remind residents to build up their resistance to the flu virus, Inumerable said.

?We would always like to remind them to keep healthy and to consult a doctor in case of influenza-like symptoms, and to visit our express lanes at health centers,? she said.

Inumerable said she has requested the office of QC Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. to provide her office with 500 digital thermometers, which would be distributed to schools and offices in the city hall compound.

?We won?t be buying anti-influenza vaccine, because a person with vaccine can still contract A(H1N1). There is no assurance that you are safe from that,? she added.
