MANILA, Philippines -- Furry Sesame Street characters Elmo and Cookie Monster were mobbed like rock stars at the Philippine National Police Museum Friday when they made a special appearance for police officers' children.
Flown all the way from the United States by Click Licensing and Promotions, the two beloved characters gamely posed for pictures with some 150 excited children in Camp Crame during the PNP's back-to-school program.
?It feels good because at least police officers' children were recognized. This is the first time that we had an activity like this,? said Senior Police Officer 1 Josephine Ybañez.
Concerned that the rains might hold them up on the road, Ybañez and daughters Kimberly, 7, and Nathalie, 5, left their Bulacan home at 4:30 a.m. to arrive in time for the 9 a.m. event at the PNP headquarters in Quezon City.
The PNP Community Relations Group gave away school and personal hygiene supplies to the kids during the program.
