MANILA, Philippines--A French tourist claimed some P50,000 worth of cash and electronic gadgets was stolen from him as he rode the Light Rail Transit (LRT) train in Manila.

Jean Marie Norbert Perdriau, 57, temporarily billeted at the Adriatico Arms Hotel along Nakpil Street, in Ermita, said he lost a small bag containing a digital camera worth P18, 000; a P3, 000 leather wallet; 500 euros; and other personal belongings.

Perdriau claimed that the incident happened on Monday afternoon but reported the incident only on Tuesday to the Manila Police District General Assignment Section (MPD-GAS).

Police Officer 2 Reginald Delos Reyes of the MPD-GAS said Perdriau and three French companions could not remember where in Manila they got onboard the LRT.

“They probably just wanted to tour Manila aboard the train,” he said.

When the train was already moving, Perdriau discovered his bag missing. He reported the incident to the LRT security personnel but they failed to locate the thief or the bag.
