MANILA -- Police operatives nabbed a 54-year-old Japanese tourist for allegedly molesting a 19-year-old aspiring entertainer inside a hotel Saturday evening in Manila.
Manila Police District Women's and Children's Protection Desk (MPD-WCPD) personnel arrested Murami Naohiko, a transient at the Green Mango Inn along Aguirre Avenue, in BF Homes, Parañaque City, on the complaint of the alleged victim, a resident of Malolos, Bulacan.
The policemen reportedly waited for Murami to check out of a hotel in Manila before placing him under arrest.
Reports of the MPD-WCPD showed that the alleged rape happened at around 7:30 p.m., Saturday, inside a hotel room at the corner of Quirino Avenue and Ignacia Street in Malate.
In her complaint, the 19-year-old claimed that Murami drugged her and she found herself naked when she woke up.
The complainant said that before the alleged rape, she was applying for a job as a singer in Japan. She added that she learned that Murami was recruiting entertainers and decided to meet him Saturday night at a mall in Manila to hand over the required documents.
When they met, the foreigner reportedly invited her for dinner and brought her to a hotel room, where he claimed he would sign the documents to enable her to travel to Japan.
She said that once inside the hotel room, Murami reportedly offered her juice, which she drank. She then felt dizzy and was knocked out.
When she regained consciousness, she allegedly found herself completely naked. The complainant said she immediately dressed up and left the hotel room, while the Japanese was reportedly inside the bathroom.
The teenager then proceeded to the MPD Ermita police station 5 to report the rape, leading to the Japanese man?s arrest.
The suspect is now in the custody of the MPD-WCPD pending the filing of a rape charge against him.
