MANILA, Philippines -- After a quarrel with her husband, a female overseas contract worker was found dead with stab wounds all over body inside their bathroom Friday night in Culiat village, Quezon City.
Police identified the victim as Hilda Mutilla Maala, estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old, and a native of Bangar in La Union.
Case investigator Police Officer 2 Joycelyn Marcelo said the victim was reportedly a contract worker abroad, although she did not specify where Maala worked.
Her body was found the bathroom in her home at 444 Compound, Tandang Sora Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Meanwhile, her husband Arnold Maala is at large and is being hunted by the police for questioning.
Initial investigation showed that the last person to see the victim alive was Alexander Sison, a brother-in- law, on Friday afternoon while the couple was doing their laundry inside the house.
Neighbors told police that they heard the Maalas quarreling inside their home between 3 to 4 p.m. after Sison left.
In the evening, the neighbors noticed a trickle of blood coming from the bathroom of the house and alerted the authorities.
“Her body was found lying on her back and it was very bloodied. It was Sison who found her,” Marcelo said in her report.
Maala suffered several stab wounds all over the body and near the ear and eyes.
Scene of the crime operatives led by Inspector Sheryn Baller were able to lift fingerprints from a plastic chair inside the house.
Police are investigating reports that the husband may have been behind the stabbing after the victim allegedly expressed her desire to end the relationship.
