3 Taiwanese, 2 Filipinos nabbed in raid

MANILA, Philippines—Police have filed criminal charges against three suspected Taiwanese drug peddlers and their two alleged Filipino cohorts arrested in a drug bust in Makati City last Friday.
Director Jefferson Soriano, National Capital Region Police Office chief, on Tuesday identified the arrested suspects as Taiwanese Kao Chi Chen, 50, Chou Chung Chieh, 37, and Shih Hsien Yang, 32.
Also arrested were Lyka dela Cruz, 19, and Sherene Ortega, 26.
Soriano said the suspects were arrested by a composite team of intelligence and anti-narcotics operatives of the NCRPO who swooped down on Chen's rented room on the 11th floor, Condominium 1105, West Ayala Building in Makati around 11 p.m. Friday.
Recovered from them were undetermined amount of dried marijuana leaves, Ecstasy tablets and drug paraphernalia containing residues of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
He said the Makati Prosecutor's Office has approved the filing of non-bailable charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as Dangerous Drugs Act of 2001, against the suspects.
