MANILA, Philippines—A truck driver is now in a critical condition while three others were also hurt in a three truck smashup along MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City before dawn Thursday.
Senior Inspector Erwin De Guzman, chief of the Valenzuela City Traffic Division said that driver Richard Pusog, 30, a resident of Tampoy, Lipa City, is still being treated for serious injuries at the intensive care unit of the Valenzuela City General Hospital.
Bernal Marnado, 19, Pusog’s companion in the dump truck (plate no. DSC 604), also sustained injuries.
The police reported that at around 4 a.m., the dump truck from Monumento was on its way to Bulacan when it hit the Isuzu truck wing van driven by Anastacio Abao Jr.
Abao was coming from Maysan in Valenzuela and was about to cross MacArthur Highway to go to Monumento.
Upon hitting the Isuzu truck, the dump truck also hit another tractor tanker approaching the highway and driven by Victorino Sabanilio, causing a huge traffic obstruction along the major road.
Abao, 35, of Bagbaguin, Valenzuela City, as well as Sabanilio, 49, Barangay North Bay Boulevard South, Navotas City both sustained injuries due to the accident and were also brought at the Valenzuela City General Hospital.
Pusog, police said, will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property and multiple physical injuries.
