MANILA, Philippines—An apology to her mother was what a 15-year-old girl left in her cell phone before she reportedly hanged herself in Bangkal, Makati City, early Friday.
The body of the victim, a junior student at the Bangkal High School, was found by her father on the rooftop of their home on Gen. Luna Street around 1 a.m. He let loose a cable wire tied around her neck and to a clothesline, and rushed his daughter to the Ospital ng Makati.
But the young woman was pronounced dead on arrival by attending doctor Mark Banzon.
Initial investigation by Police Officer 3 Nilo Sadsad of the Makati City Police homicide section showed that the victim's mother saw her daughter in bed talking to her two younger sisters around 10 p.m. Thursday.
About three hours later, however, she said she was awakened when she felt someone had "kissed" her, prompting her to check on her daughters.
When she noticed her daughter was missing, she looked into her cell phone and saw the haunting message: "Nay sori po if ngawa q 2. Cguro dhl na dn po sa lungkot q. Gusto q po mg sori dhl naging pasaway me sau nay. Sori po tlga. Sana po mpatawad nio q. Salamat. (Mom I'm sorry I did this. Maybe it's because of my sadness. I want to say sorry because I haven't been a good daughter. I'm really sorry. I hope you can forgive me. Thanks.)"
Sadsad said that though evidence pointed to a suicide, police were not ruling out foul play until after the autopsy results are released.
