MANILA, Philippines -- A man was killed and two others wounded in a brawl between two groups of drunken men inside a sing-along bar in Pasay City shortly before midnight Thursday, a police official said.
Police immediately arrested Marcelo Malood, 48, and his companion Matusalem Suazo, 36, according to Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio, Pasay police chief.
Recovered from them was a six-inch knife, which Malood allegedly used in stabbing the victims, said Valerio.
Diodito Inamarga, 42, died from deep stab wounds on his body as he was being wheeled into the Pasay City General Hospital, he said.
Wounded were Ernesto Gatchalian Jr, 34, and Gerald Alcaraz, 28, he said.
Valerio said the suspects and the victims were drinking at separate tables inside Lea’s Eatery and Restaurant on Granados Street around 11:40 p.m. when an unidentified man allegedly accosted Suazo.
The incident caused a heated argument between the two groups which then led to a free-for-all, he said.
During the brawl, Malood allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked the victims, he said.
Residents who saw the commotion quickly sought assistance from a nearby community police precinct, he said.
Valerio said murder and double frustrated murder charges have been filed against the arrested suspects.
