MANILA, Philippines -- Convicted murderer Claudio Teehankee Jr. has yet to leave the New Bilibid Prison compound in Muntinlupa City, the chaplain of the prison facility said Wednesday.
Monsignor Robert Olaguer said Teehankee was staying inside a 30-square meter room at the back of the Our Lady of Mercy Parish Church inside the vast jail compound.
The room was ordered built and financed by convicted rapist and former congressman Romeo Jalosjos, Olaguer said.
In an interview with the media, the priest said the son of the late Chief Justice Claudio Teehankee Sr. occupied the room after his release from the maximum jail compound Friday night.
Olaguer, however, said he did not have any idea that Teehankee had been ordered released after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo granted him executive clemency.
?I was only told that he moved to the room last Sunday,? Olaguer told reporters.
Members of the media have been on a stakeout outside Teehankee?s room since Tuesday after news spread that his family would pick him up any time.
