MANILA, Philippines -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized P5.2 million worth of counterfeit Vans rubber shoes in simultaneous raids in Pasay City Monday.
Raided were the sales outlet of Wintelo Merchandising located at Stall S-23, Bagong Milenyo Wholesale Center, F.B. Harrison Street, Pasay City.
Agents of the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division also swooped down on the establishment's stockrooms located at Unit B-43, Bagong Milenyo Wholesale Center; and at the 3rd Floor, LEY Warehouse, Russel Avenue, also in Pasay City.
Seized from the establishments were 2,895 pairs of fake Vans rubber shoes, the NBI said.
The operations were conducted following surveillance and test buys to confirm the evidence gathered through Orion Support Incorporated (OSI), a market research firm representing the Intellectual Property Rights of Vans.
Trademark infringement charges were being prepared against the owners of the raided establishments, the NBI said.
