MANILA, Philippines -- Two men, one diabetes-stricken, the other 19-years-old, were found dead by their relatives after they allegedly hanged themselves inside their homes in separate incidents in Quezon City early Wednesday.
Police identified the fatalities as taxi driver Felix Salunay, 57, of 102 Everlasting Street, Barangay (village) Central, and Sherwin Encenas, 19, of 25 Angono Street, Barangay Baesa.
An initial investigation of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection said the body of Encenas was discovered by his girlfriend Carol Valdez around 1:25 a.m.
According to the report, Encenas hanged himself with a leather belt inside the bathroom of his rented apartment. Superintendent Lino Banaag, chief of the QCPD Homicide Investigation Section, said they have invited Valdez for questioning to find out what could have driven Encenas to kill himself.
Salunay’s body, on the other hand, was found by his daughter-in-law around 2 a.m. hanging by a plastic rope tied to the wood beam of their kitchen, Banaag said.
He said Salunay’s wife told police investigators that her husband had become emotionally unstable after he was diagnosed with diabetes last year.
Banaag said autopsies would be conducted on the two victims before police rule out foul play.
