MANILA, Philippines -- Police operatives arrested a woman suspected of selling ?double dead? meat and seized 150 kilos early morning Friday in Pasay City.
The Pasay City Hall police detachment along with the city veterinary office have been keeping an eye on Virgie Gutierrez, 40, after receiving tips of spoiled meat being sold at the Libertad Market.
Dr Rodolfo Bernasor, head of the city veterinary office, said this was the second time that Gutierrez had been arrested for peddling hot meat this year.
Bernasor's men were able to seize at least 130 kilos of spoiled pork which were stashed in bayongs (native woven bag) outside a house on Protacio corner Aurora Street. The police operatives and Bernasor then proceeded to the Libertad Market where they saw Gutierrez peddling 20 more kilos of meat to prospective buyers.
In March of this year, the meat vendor was nabbed by Bernasor's team for selling 15 kilos of hot meat at the Pasay City public market. The meat was instead fed to crocodiles at the city's crocodile farm at the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex along Roxas Boulevard.
