MANILA, Philippines -- A 16-year-old boy who had come from a birthday party died after two knife-wielding men ganged up on him in Quezon City Sunday evening, police said.

Jerick Formane, of Block 5 Lot 7 Tarraha Village, Barangay (village) Sta. Lucia in Novaliches was declared dead on arrival at the Novaliches General Hospital.

Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) reports said at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Formane and four friends were walking home from the party when the suspects blocked their path at the Galvez Compound in Sta. Lucia.

Formane and his friends were not armed and fled from the knife-wielding attackers.

However, Formane was cornered by the two, who stabbed him repeatedly until he fell.

The killers fled as Formane's companions rushed him to the hospital.
