MANILA, Philippines—Police have arrested a teenager suspected of leading a daring predawn robbery Sunday at a fastfood chain in Parañaque City, as well as his older companion.
The two suspects in a group of four assailants were nabbed Monday afternoon after being positively identified by their victims as the men who broke into the GoodAh Restaurant, along President's Avenue in the village of BF Homes early morning Sunday.
Superintendent Ronald Estilles, chief of police, identified the group's alleged leader as Arjay Rean, alias “Daga,” 16 and a resident of Purok 1, Sampaloc Site 1 in BF Homes.
Police named the other suspected robber as Enrique Salameda, alias “King,” 28 and a resident of Sampaloc Site 2, BF Homes.
“We were able to arrest them after they were identified by two of the restaurant's staff and after follow-up operations,” said Estilles.
Rean was nabbed by operatives late Monday afternoon in Imus, Cavite while Salameda was arrested near his residence in Sampaloc Site 2.
The two were positively identified through a rogues' gallery by cook Romeo Arciga, 27, the cook and a 22-year-old pregnant woman who served as the restaurant's cashier.
The woman was later raped by one of the four suspects, whom Estilles identified as a certain “Loyd.”
Estilles said the Rean and Salameda, along with two other men, pretended to be customers of the GoodAh Restaurant and robbed the victims at gunpoint, taking away some P20,000 in cash.
The four men allegedly held the victims captive inside the kitchen, tying up Arciga. The pregnant woman was molested by one of the men inside the restaurant's kitchen, police added.
“They later fled to an unknown direction, bringing with them the cash,” Estilles said.
Police said Rean and Salameda were also suspects in previous robberies in Parañaque City and have been subjects of continuous manhunt operations.
Charges of robbery and rape against the two arrested suspects and their companions, who are still at large, were being prepared, Estilles said.
