MANILA -- A group of armed men said to be led by a teenager staged a pre-dawn robbery Sunday at a 24-hour eatery in Parañaque City, carting away thousands of pesos from the cash register.
One of the robbers raped the pregnant cashier in the kitchen of GoodAh fastfood along President's Avenue in B.F. Homes, the Parañaque police said.
Only one of the robbers, all at large, was identified by the police, a 16-year-old boy with the alias "Daga," who has been notorious for robberies in the area, case investigator SPO1 Anthony Alising said.
Alising said more than P20,000 was taken from the restaurant based on the initial probe, but a separate radio report quoted the Parañaque police chief, Supt. Ronald Estilles, as saying the loot amounted to P57,000.
Based on the investigation, the robbers raided the eatery at about 5 a.m. and proceeded to empty the cash register, brandishing knives and handguns.
They hogtied the cook, Romeo Arciga, and the cashier, whose name was withheld, in the kitchen. One of the robbers (not the minor) raped the victim while another forced her down, Alising said.
He added that the victim was to be taken to the hospital for a medico-legal exam on Sunday and would press charges against her attacker soon.
The police said they had a file photo of the teenage suspect but not of the three other assailants, who, based on eyewitness accounts, were adults.
