MANILA, Philippines -- Police on Wednesday arrested four of seven suspects in Monday’s robbery of two tabloid offices in Manila’s Port Area.

Jaime Obanel, 33, and Jose Manago, 38, both of Baseco Compound; Ricky Montana, 33, and Noel Seneneng, 30, both of Port Area, Manila, were arrested by personnel of the Manila Police District’s theft and robbery division and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) around 4 a.m.

Authorities first arrested Obanel, who had been positively identified by a witness.

Obanel then led the policemen to the three other suspects. Montana was caught near the terminal of Victory Liner Compound in Sampaloc while about to board a bus bound for Olongapo City.

Chief Inspector Benigno Macalindong, head of the MPD theft and robbery division, said they are continuing the manhunt for the three remaining suspects.

At around 2:40 Monday, robbers barged into the OMI Building on 20th Street corner Bonifacio Drive, which houses Pigeon Publishing Corp., publisher of Ang Bagong Tiktik, and Bagong Sinag Publishing Inc., publisher of Remate.

The robbers disarmed the security guard before ransacking the tabloid offices, taking P160,000 cash and workers' cellular phones and other valuables.

Police said they used the motorcycle abandoned by the robbers as a lead to track down the suspects. Witnesses identified Manago, a tricycle driver, as the one driving the motorcycle.

Macalindong said that during interrogation, Manago admitted to having lent his tricycle to the group.
