MANILA, Philippines -- A 41-year-old man was stabbed dead by an auto supply shop employee whose sleep he disturbed late Sunday night in Quezon City.
Pedro Macaranas, of USAFFE Street in Barangay (village) Holy Spirit, died from a single stab wound in the chest allegedly inflicted on him by a man identified only as a certain “Ambet” or “Albert," a stay-in employee at the SBI auto supply, at Block 1, Lot 6, Commonwealth Avenue in the same barangay.
Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) reports said the incident happened at around 11:40 p.m., Sunday, near the shop where the suspect works.
Senior Police Officer 2 Jerry Abad said that, before the incident, Macaranas and two other companions, all reportedly drunk, for no apparent reason started throwing stones at the shop.
The suspect, who was sleeping inside the shop, woke up and asked them to stop throwing stones because people are parked vehicles might be hit.
When the three ignored him, the suspect armed himself with a knife and attacked Macaranas.
Macaranas managed to run several meters away from the suspect before he fell dead as his two companions fled. The victim’s body was discovered by a neighbor who reported the incident to the police.
The suspect also fled and is being sought by authorities.
