MANILA, Philippines—Classes at all levels in Metro Manila will resume Thursday as Typhoon Karen (international codename: Nuri) heads out of the Philippine area of responsibility, the National Disaster Coordinating Council said.

NDCC spokesman Anthony Golez said Karen will bring less rains in Metro Manila.

Classes in Metro Manila were suspended Wednesday afternoon due to the heavy downpour.

Northern Luzon will continue to be stormy while western Luzon will experience monsoon rains, Golez said.

He said local disaster councils are prepared to assist typhoon victims.
