MANILA, Philippines -- The Marikina City police station was cited as the best in Metro Manila by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

The Marikina Police Station bested other stations in Metro Manila for the first six months of 2008, said a memorandum from NCRPO dated August 14, 2008.

The citation was based on a selection criteria that considered the police station's Unit Performance Evaluation Rating (UPER) in the first two quarters of the year, their rating in the written test of the NCRPO Skills Olympics, and their implementation of special projects and programs.

Marikina Police Station got the highest performance rating in two of the three criteria landing a score of 81.43. It edged out the police stations of Caloocan City (79.88) and Makati (52.42) to top the roster of NCR police stations.

The NCR also gave citations to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) as the best NCR police district, and the Police Station 7 of Cubao as the best NCR numbered police station.

The QCPD bested four other police districts in Metro Manila with a score of 74.24. The Eastern Police District came in a close second at 73.06.

Police Station 7 in Cubao ranked number 1 with a score of 79.03 while Police station 6 of Sta. Ana, Manila was ranked second at 75.54.

The police district and numbered police stations of Metro Manila were also judged by their performance ratings in the UPER, their rating in the written test of the NCRPO Skills Olympics, and their implementation of special projects and programs.
