MANILA, Philippines -- A university professor was ambushed and killed in Taguig early Wednesday as he was on his way to work, according to a radio report.

Radio dzMM identified the fatality as Rene Domingo, who was aboard his Starex when he was riddled with bullets by three to four men.

The report said Domingo, a former employee of Taguig municipal hall, was a professor at the University of Makati.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects although the motive for the killing has yet to be established, the report said.
