MANILA, Philippines -- A bill seeking to return the jurisdiction and administration of the Port of Manila to the City of Manila has been filed Wednesday at the House of Representatives.
House Bill No. 4168, also known as the “Manila Port Authority Act of 2008,” seeks to place the Port of Manila, which comprises the Manila International Container Port, Manila North Harbor, and Manila South Harbor under the exclusive jurisdiction and authority of the Manila city government.
“Returning the jurisdiction of the Port of Manila to the City of Manila will definitely result to a better management and control, and will also increase the revenue of the City,” Manila Representative Bienvenido Abante, Jr., the principal author, said.
