MANILA, Philippines -- Police and rescue groups are still looking for an eight-year-old boy who disappeared during the height of a heavy downpour Monday afternoon in Quezon City, police said Tuesday.
Superintendent Constante Agpaoa, commander of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 6, identified missing boy as Edgie Narca Jr., a resident of Kasunduan Street, in the village of Commonwelth.
He said the boy accidentally fell from the roof of their house and was swept by raging floodwaters around 4 p.m.
He said rescue teams sent by the Philippine Coast Guard and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) had yet to recover the boy as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
"The boy's family said they decided to go to the roof after rainwater inundated their house. They said the boy accidentally slipped and was swept by the floodwater when he tried to save his slippers which fell from the roof," Agpaoa told the Philippine Daily Inquirer, parent company of INQUIRER.net.
