MANILA, Philippines -- Traffic along Ayala Avenue will be rerouted starting 11 a.m. Friday to make way for the Grand Parade, one of the highlights of the month-long celebration of Makati City’s 338th Foundation Day.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is advising drivers of public utility and private vehicles to take the following alternate routes near Ayala Avenue:

• Buses coming from and going to EDSA can take Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue. Those coming from and going to Manila or Pasay City can also take Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, turn left at Tordesillas Street, and then take Zuellig Loop.

• Jeepneys coming from J.P. Rizal Street can take Makati Avenue, turn left at Paseo de Roxas and then left at Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue.

• Jeepneys plying the Ayala Avenue/Washington route can turn right at Amorsolo Street and go through the covered canal, take another left at A. Arnaiz Avenue and then left again into EDSA. The DPS also recommended a return route taking Arnaiz Avenue then turning right at Amorsolo Street, left at Herrera Street, and right at Washington Street.

• Jeepneys plying the Ayala Avenue/Mantrade route can turn right at Dela Rosa Street, turn right at Makati Avenue and then right again at Arnaiz Avenue.

• Jeepneys plying the Amorsolo Street/Crispa route can turn right at Amorsolo Street, turn left at Dela Rosa Street then right at Adelantado Street.

• Private vehicles going to and coming from EDSA can take Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue.

• Private vehicles coming from or going to Manila or Pasay City can take Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, turn left at Tordesillas Street and go through Zuellig Loop.

• From Ayala Avenue or Sen. Gil Puyat Stree going to Legaspi Village: motorists can make a right turn at Ayala Avenue, then a right at Amorsolo Street, and another right via the covered canal to Arnaiz Avenue.

• Vehicles going to Salcedo Village can take Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue and turn right at Tordesillas Street.

• Vehicles coming from EDSA or Ayala Avenue going to Legaspi Village, can take EDSA and make a right turn at Arnaiz Avenue and then turn left to Paseo de Roxas.

• Motorists from EDSA or Ayala Avenue going to Salcedo Village can opt to take Ayala Avenue and turn right at Apartment Ridge, left at Paseo de Roxas, and at Villar Street.

The traffic rerouting is expected to last until the Grand Parade ends at around 5 or 6 p.m. Friday.
