MANILA, Philippines ? Only banners and streamers congratulating Manny Pacquiao will be seen in Manila after one of his managers turned down the city government?s offer of a motorcade in the boxing champ?s honor.
Mayor Alfredo Lim said Tuesday that Pacquiao?s business manager, Eric Pineda, turned down their offer because there were reportedly plans to parade the new World Boxing Council super flyweight champion around Metro Manila, instead of just the City of Manila.
?We have to bow to their decision. We will just put banners congratulating Pacquiao for his victory in the city?s main thoroughfares,? Lim said.
During the term of Lim?s predecessor Lito Atienza, who was close to the boxer, Pacquiao always attended the victory parades given by the city government in his honor.
