MANILA, Philippines -- The gun used in to kill three men in Pasay City last week has been traced to the owner of a taxi service based at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Police are now looking at the possible involvement of the taxi service owner in the deaths of Ruel de los Reyes, 23; Gerry Daquigan, 37, and Guillermo Bocalbos, 37 last week.
Case investigator Police Officer 2 Jonathan Morales said a witness had attested that the gun used in the killing belonged to the taxi operator.
?We have a witness who claimed that the gun suspect John Paolo Garcia used belonged to? the owner of the taxi service, he said in an interview.
Garcia was reportedly employed as a bodyguard of the taxi operator, who police said will be invited for questioning.
For security reasons, police refused to divulge the identity of the witness, who claimed to have made regular repairs on the suspect's motorcycle.
Morales said the witness executed a sworn statement claiming Garcia informed him that the 45 caliber pistol found in the red Honda 100 motorcycle recovered by police at the taxi service?s garage last week belonged to the operator.
Garcia alleged gunned down the three men, his neighbors in Pildera II, Pasay City, Tuesday night last week after becoming fed up with their supposed bullying.
The witness also claimed that around 8 p.m. on March 11, he was with the suspect at the taxi service compound and heard the owner ?agreeing? to Garcia's plan to kill his enemies.
?Ay siya! Barilin mo na lang ang mga nangbugbog sa iyo at ako na ang bahala uling magtago sa iyo! Gamitin mo na iyang baril ko [All right! Shoot those who beat you up and I will take care of hiding you again! Use my gun]!? the witness quoted the taxi service owner as saying.
?This Garcia also has a history of killing two policemen before, one from Las Piñas City and the other from Calamba City in Laguna,? Morales said.
The witness also claimed Garcia swore to kill his neighbors before the night ended, and that it would be all over the news the next day.
The police investigation showed that on March 11, Garcia allegedly shot the men with a caliber .45 pistol and fled on a motorcycle with his two children.
A search of the suspect?s house showed it had been emptied, indicating that the killings might have been premeditated, said Pasay chief of police Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio.
A week earlier, the suspect lodged a complaint against the three men with the Pasay police only to have them retaliate with threats and harassment.
