MANILA, Philippines -- With the bladed weapon still stuck in his midsection, a construction worker was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday night after he was stabbed 15 times by an unidentified man in Navotas City.
Fortunately, the victim, Ranillo de los Santos, 24, survived the attack and was reported to be now in stable condition at the Jose Reyes Medical Center.
In his police report, Senior Police Officer 1 Sandy Falcutilla said De los Santos was stabbed by a man wielding an arrow-shaped knife at around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigation showed the victim was walking on a street in the village of Daang Hari when a man blocked his path and attacked him.
According to witnesses, the man only stopped when the knife became stuck in the victim’s stomach.
The assailant then fled, leaving the bladed weapon behind, the police said.
De los Santos was reportedly on his way to a carnival in the area when he was attacked.
Navotas police chief Senior Superintendent Serafin Reyes vowed to deploy additional police beef up security in the area.
Reyes also expressed confidence that they would be able to lift fingerprints from the knife and identify the attacker, saying "he left an evidence which is vital to the investigation.’’
