MANILA, Philippines -- Just when he thought he was home free, a Japanese passenger on an outbound Philippine Airlines flight was busted for carrying marijuana in the most private of places.
Kenichi Nishi, 55, was apprehended at the final screening check at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Centennial Terminal on Sunday afternoon after a routine frisk revealed 34 joints stuffed in his briefs, police said on Monday.
“He was hiding it in his underwear, but because our security people are good at profiling suspicious people, they knew where to look. He also looked uneasy during the inspection,” said Senior Superintendent Efren Labiang, chief of the aviation police station at NAIA-2.
The marijuana was wrapped in red plastic.
“He himself took it out when he was busted,” Labiang said.
Nishi was immediately turned over to agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, which has the authority to pursue charges against him.
