PASAY CITY, Philippines – Microsoft Philippines has opened its first “techzones” in a popular mall in Manila to give local consumers a chance to try out Microsoft-powered consumer devices.
The local software subsidiary opened the first Microsoft Windows Technology Zone in the Netopia Extreme Gaming Grounds at the SM Mall of Asia.
Several more techzones will be established in Netopia branches, including in SM Megamall, as part of a nationwide roadshow, Microsoft Philippines Unlimited Potential Lead Sam Jacoba said.
The techzones feature desktop PCs, notebook computers, and netbooks that use Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems. It also features handheld devices that run the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system.
Jacoba said the techzones hope to showcase the software company’s branded hardware and entertainment software, including keyboards, mouse and PC games.
Jacoba said there will be varying themes every six weeks during the duration of the partnership.
For this month, the theme is "Have a PC Christmas," which targets gadget lovers who want to buy for themselves or as gifts.
Netopia has over 100 branches nationwide and is the biggest Internet café operator in the Philippines.
