MANILA, Philippines ? The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will begin accepting applications for its computer-assisted testing (CAT) for those who wish to work and apply for a government position.

CSC said the application will be from October 3 to 13.

?The CAT is a CSC-developed software program designed to administer the Civil Service Commission's Career Service Professional and Sub-professional examinations. It facilitates the systematic storage, updating and retrieval of pertinent examinee data as well as checking and scoring of examinee answers to test questions from computerized software. It is also able to generate reports of ratings and statistics of pass and fail test scores,? the CSC said in its website.

CSC said applicants must submit their filled application forms at the CSC Central Office located at IBP Road, Constitution Hills in Quezon City together with the following requirements:

? Four pieces of recent and identical 1.5? x 2? I.D. pictures with the applicant in standard close-up shot and holding a full name tag that shows the applicant?s first name, middle initial, last name and extension name
? Original and photocopy of any valid I.D. card bearing the applicant?s name, picture, date of birth and signature, and the issuing officer?s name and signature.

Application forms can be downloaded at the CSC website or applicants can visit the CSC office. Examination fee is P400, the CSC said.
Processing of applications will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. The CSC also clarified that filing of applications may be closed any time should the quota of 480 examinees be reached.

Qualified applicants are those 18-years-old and above regardless of educational attainment, a Filipino citizen, have not taken the CSC Professional examination within the last three months prior to the dates of the examination, and have not failed the same level of examination for four times since October 2002.

The seven-day application period shall cover examination schedules to be conducted on all Tuesdays and Thursdays of October and November immediately following the application period, except November 11 and 13.

The CSC stressed that those who will file application for the computer assisted test (CAT) can no longer apply for the November 16 paper and pencil test (PPT), the filing of applications for which is ongoing until October 16.

Meanwhile, those who have already filed their applications for the November 16 PPT may still apply for the CAT, provided, they execute a waiver for the PPT. The CSC, though, clarified that the PPT examination fee they have paid shall be forfeited.
