UAE firm seeking IT workers for RP design center

MANILA, Philippines -- A Middle East-based firm which designs curtain walls is setting up a design facility in the country and is keen on hiring Filipino computer professionals.
Reem Emirates Aluminum (REA), based in the United Arab Emirates, is looking for engineers and CAD (computer aided design) specialists for its Philippine facility.
REA, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has set up Reemalum Philippines, a statement from the company said. RAP is one of the three REA divisions that cater to the booming curtain wall market in the UAE.
Curtain walls are thin, aluminum-framed, glass in-filled walls that are attached to the building structure without carrying the floor or roof loads. These are becoming an essential feature in modern construction, particularly in the booming UAE property market.
Curtain walls are designed to resist air and water infiltration and provide the benefits of natural daylight illumination as well as an aesthetic feel.
"UAE is big on hiring highly skilled engineers and architects in response to the growing demand for high-tech architecture, and the demand for these skilled workers remains consistently high year-after-year," said Derek Bruce, general manager of the local office.
However, instead of importing people into the UAE, he said his company is bringing the jobs to the Philippines while giving employees the option to work for the group in overseas locations.
Bruce himself will visit the Philippines later this month to oversee the recruitment process. The company, however, did not indicate how much workers the company will hire locally.
REA is part of the Abu Dhabi-based Royal Group, consisting of 40 companies with interests in real estate, construction, media, landscaping, and information technology.
