MANILA, Philippines -- Gurango Software Corp. has named a new country manager for its value added reseller (VAR) business in the Philippines to focus more on the local market, a newly appointed executive told INQUIRER.net.
"This move allows the company to focus on the local market and grow operations to a point that it would serve as a pilot site for other countries. The Philippine operations, as far as VAR is concerned, is way advanced compared to other countries. In fact, VAR Australia is just signing up," said Manny Tanseco, the country manager for VAR business in the Philippines, in an interview.
The software company's VAR business involves software pre-sales, solutions selling, implementation, development and support services delivered to clients here and abroad.
Prior to his appointment, Tanseco served as Gurango Software's director for services.
The Philippines-based global software company currently has offices in Australia, Singapore and South Africa.
The company is involved in delivering Microsoft VAR services on the Microsoft Dynamics platform in these global markets along with its own portfolio of software business solutions.
"My new role involves taking care of the Philippine VAR. I will handle the sales and consulting team that will sell Microsoft and Gurango software products and solutions. The new role entails more focus on pushing the Microsoft business solutions with the support and services as well as our own payroll and HR solutions in Gurango Software," he added.
Gurango Software has about 40 customers in the Philippines, mostly mid-range companies and a few large companies, the executive said.
Tanseco said he was aware of the recent developments from rivals like business software company SAP, which is also eyeing to capture the mid-market for business software in the Philippines.
"The Dynamics product of Microsoft is growing. The licenses sold have been growing partly due to the more R&D by Microsoft. This has somehow served as impetus for us to have a separate VAR business in the Philippines," he said.
Acknowledging that he was aware of threats coming from rival software companies, Tanseco said Gurango Software will focus on growing its business in some vertical industries, including manufacturing, trade and logistics, and human capital management, which includes payroll, human resource and time-keeping solutions.
Tanseco joined Gurango Software in 2005.
