SAN PEDRO CITY, Philippines – Three men suspected of robbing an LBC branch were killed past 3 p.m. Thursday (May 28) by policemen who had been pursuing them following the robbery over an hour earlier in an LBC money remittance center in Bacoor City, Cavite.

Senior Superintendent Jonnel Estomo, the Cavite police director, said in a phone interview, that the LBC branch in Barangay (village) Molino 5, Bacoor, was attacked by two armed men at around 2 p.m.

The robbers, he said, held the cashier and customers at gunpoint as they took away cash and fled on a motorcycle driven by another man. Police did not say how much cash was stolen by the robbers.

Estomo said about an hour later, the police tracked down the three suspects on their motorcycle inside the Great Wood subdivision within Barangay Molino.

He said the suspects had nowhere else to escape to and “we even tried to convince them to surrender but the negotiations failed.”

The suspects fired shots prompting the policemen to shoot back, he said. The suspects were killed instantly, said Estomo.

Investigators have not identified the slain men and have not accounted for the cash the suspects had allegedly stolen. SFM/ABC
