Heavy rains, lightning expected in Metro Manila, nearby areas — PAGASA

“Domeng” (international name: Maliksi) has intensified into a tropical storm as it remained at sea, the state weather bureau said midday Friday.

The storm and the southwest monsoon will bring moderate to occasional heavy rains over Aurora, Bataan and the regions of Bicol, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

“Heavy rains with lightning and strong winds due to thunderstorms are expected over #Tarlac, #Cavite, #Laguna and #Batangas within the next 1-2 hours,” PAGASA said in its update.

Scattered rains will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

Monsoon rains are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of western sections of Luzon and Visayas.

Weather forecaster Cris Perez said a rainy weekend is possible in Metro Manila.

Sea travel is risky over the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and of Visayas and the western seaboard of Southern Luzon.  /vvp
