GANG MEMBERS MAUL 2 BRODS

FIVE gang members were arrested by police after they allegedly mauled two brothers in barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City, at dawn Tuesday.

Another suspect, Jay-R Trinidad, 20, remains at large, said police.

Arrested were Oliver Buhani, 18; Arturo Valdomar, 20; and three boys aged 17. They were accused of mauling brothers Jerry Joy Salgado, 30, and his 27-year-old brother Ray. Police said the suspects were members of the Bloods Gang.

Police said the two brothers were drinking  in a store  when the suspects arrived and mauled them.

The brothers told police that Buhani fired a shot using a pugakhang (improvised gun) before they left.

Casuntingan police arrested the suspects in a shanty in sitio Lub-ang and said they found two marijuana sticks on them. A improvised shotgun was also recovered from Buhani.

Charges of illegal possession of drugs and firearms will be filed  against Buhani.

Charges for physical injuries will be filed against all  six suspects, said police./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

3 COPS RELIEVED

THREE Cebu City policemen were relieved from their posts pending  investigation of allegations that they were protecting drug pushers.

The three policemen were reassigned to the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), said Senior Supt. Melvin Buenafe, chief of the Cebu City Police Office.

ROBBERY SUSPECT CAUGHT IN TALISAY

POLICE arrested a 19-year-old boy who was tagged as one of  four suspects in the robbing and shooting of a taxi driver in barangay San Roque, Talisay City, last Monday dawn.

Lester Louie Macachor was arrested while he was walking along a road in barangay Tangke around 6 a.m. yesterday.

Police said that Macachor was one of the men who allegedly robbed taxi driver Jimmy Bantilan and shot him in the jaw when he resisted the holduppers.
The driver’s  earnings of P3,250 were taken during the robbery.

SPO1 Mikie Espina, investigator of the Talisay police, said Macachor was previously jailed on theft charges and was released last March.

It was also learned that Macachor was the same person who robbed a gasoline station in San Fernando town last Monday night, said PO1 Miguel Bernabe of the San Fernando police./CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

WOMAN KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT

A WOMAN was killed after she was hit by a motorcycle along the  national highway in Compostela town, northern Cebu.

Victoria Jore, a resident of  Danao City, was crossing the road Tuesday afternoon when the accident occurred.

She sustained head injuries and was declared dead when she was brought to the Danao City District Hospital.

The  motorcycle was driven by Antonio Oliveros with his wife Cecil in the backseat.

The Oliveros couple sustained minor injuries.
