Security escort of Quezon town mayor shot dead

LUCENA CITY – A security escort of Mulanay, Quezon Mayor Joselito Ojeda was shot dead early Saturday in Mulanay.
Police report said the victim Ruben Subia was gunned down by two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle in Barangay (village) Sta. Rosa around 5:10 a.m.
Mulanay police chief, Chief Insp. Joselito Araja, said police teams have conducted hot pursuit operations for the arrest and identification of the suspects.
Ojeda confirmed the victim was a member of his security group.
According to Ojeda, he received information five days ago from one of his political leaders about some unidentified persons who were recruiting men supposedly for an assassination job.
“My men are the first targets,” Ojeda said in a phone interview.
Ojeda said he had advised all his men to observe all security measures for their personal protection and their families.
He also said he will also personally conduct an investigation and will issue his statement later in the day. /muf
