DAGUPAN CITY — Two motocycle riders were killed while nine others were injured in three road accidents on Thursday (May 24) and Friday (May 25) in Pangasinan province, police said.

Jenifer Mararac Jr. died on the way to the hospital after his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle along the dike road in Barangay (village) Dulag in Lingayen town about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, according to Lingayen police investigator PO3 Adrian Espino.

The driver of the other motorcycle, Jay-I Salvador, 29, and his back rider, Darwin Cayabyab, 21, are being treated in a hospital.

Aside from not wearing protective gear, police said the motorcycle riders did not have driver’s licenses and were drunk.

In Calasiao town, Benjie Siapno, 25, was killed when his motorcycle was smashed by a trailer truck along the De Venecia Highway in Barangay Banaoang at 10:20 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said the truck was traversing the eastbound lane of the road when the motorcycle suddenly crashed into the truck.

Siapno was taken to the Region 1 Medical Center but a doctor there declared him dead on arrival. The truck driver, Alvin John Libao, 28, is now under the custody of the Calasiao police.

Earlier in Alaminos City, seven persons, including two children, were injured when a dump truck hit a tricycle and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along the highway in Barangay San Vicente about 5 p.m. also on Thursday.
