Public warned: Don’t deal with partner of ex-wife of Duterte son

Harry Roque —JOAN BONDOC

Malacañang on Monday warned the public against dealing with the partner of the ex-wife of a son of President Rodrigo Duterte said to be fixing cases in the judiciary using the name of the President’s grandchild.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque did not name the “fixer.”

Roque said the President was aware of the activities of the fixer who was reportedly operating up to the level of justices.

“[The President] is not condoning this and do not try the patience of our President,” Roque said at a news briefing.

Asked about the identity of the fixer, Roque said there was only one current husband of an ex-wife of the son of the President.

Asked whether he was referring to the current partner of Lovely Somera, the former wife of ex-Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, Roque said no names were given to him.

The President has two sons — Paolo and Sebastian. Paolo is separated from his first wife, Lovely.

“He (the fixer) is using the name of the President’s grandchild to fix cases. To the judiciary, to the judges and justices, do not entertain this fixer. He is not a relative of the President,” Roque said.

Roque asked justices and judges to inform the Palace if the person concerned had approached them.

Asked whether the case of the fixer came up after the President attended last week the graduation of his granddaughter Isabel that Somera reportedly attended as well, Roque said he did not know.
