CEBU CITY — A newly-elected village councilman in Talisay City, Cebu was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding assailants in San Fernando town on Thursday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Dinnes Ramos, 43, of Barangay Bulacao, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

According to PO2 Erwin Oyao of the San Fernando Police Station, Ramos was standing before his vehicle parked outside a hardware store in Barangay Pitalo when the attack happened.

Ramos was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Ramos had just been elected as kagawad in Barangay Bulacao.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind his killing and whether it was related to last Monday’s Barangay and SK elections.
