Malacañang respects the decision of the Supreme Court to oust Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno, saying the ruling was an “assertion of the supremacy of the fundamental law of the land.”

Voting 8-6, the SC granted the quo warranto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida, who questioned the qualification of Sereno to serve as the country’s top magistrate.

“The Supreme Court is the final arbiter of the law,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
