Gordon defends Dengvaxia report: Nothing political

/ 06:20 AM May 02, 2018

As he prepared for floor debates on his report recommending criminal charges against former President Benigno Aquino III and members of his Cabinet for the Dengvaxia scandal, Sen. Richard Gordon insisted there was nothing political about the report.

Majority of senators signed the report prepared by the Senate blue ribbon committee, chaired by Gordon, but some did not agree with its recommendation to charge Aquino.

The committee also recommended criminal charges against former Budget Secretary Florencio Abad and former Health Secretary Janette Garin.

Gordon said the Senate floor would be the proper venue for debates on findings and recommendations of his committee report.

Gordon said he had “no doubt” that officials involved in the use of more than P3 billion in government funds to buy Dengvaxia were liable. —Leila B. Salaverria
